All These Notes and No Where to Put Them
In the previous two weeks for Standards Tuesday I spoke about the proper way to create drawing notes, see Standards Tuesday - Drawing Notes and Standards Tuesday - Drawing Notes Pt2. Now I admit that it could be a bit overwhelming and a lot of information to remember but it doesn’t have to be that way. Wouldn’t it be great if you could create a library of all you most common drawing notes that you can just add to drawings and make only small changes as required. Using the Design Library that is already installed on your system is a great way to create a Notes Library.
Creating a Notes Library
Besides being a great place to store your most commonly used features, forming tools, annotations and parts, the Design Library is a perfect location for a Notes Library.
First we will create a folder named Notes Library in the root of the Design Library by right-clicking the folder pane and select New Folder.
Name the folder Notes Library, or any other name you wish.
Add Notes to Notes Library
Select the notes you wish to add to the newly created Notes Library.
Click the Add to Library button in the Design Library.
Enter the information in the CommandManager per below:
The note is now added to the Notes Library.
Insert Note into Drawing
To add a note from the Note Library into a drawing simply drag-and-drop the desired note onto your drawing.
The note is now part of your drawing and ready to be modified as necessary.
With the Notes Library you can create a library of all of your companies standard notes ensuring that your notes remain consistant. You can also create a shared library in a central location on your network but that is a different post for a different day.
